Project Analysis
Ratz V Aliens is a tower defence FPS shooter where the player takes control of a rat and must collect resources to defend against an unstoppable army of aliens.
This project was completed for a university coursework for students to design a game under the setting of a street. As a fan of horror, I originally aimed to create a horror experience however this quickly transitioned into a rat shooter when my camera controller bugged and dropped to the floor. I realised the lower perspective created for some interesting mechanics and I aimed to utlize the lower camera throughout the game and map design.
The project was designed in Unity. All assets excluding audio were designed using Maya, Unity Probuilder, Substance Painter and ZBrush.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Designed a basic blockout using Unity Probuilder.

Concepted the aesthetic and design of the game to fit the requirements, aiming for a cartoony aesthetic.

Concepted the gameplay loop.

Concepted and implemented UI design.

Created all images and assets used in the game using Maya, Substance Painter, ZBrush and Probuilder.

Implemented effects using shader graph and VFX graph.

Implemented all gameplay mechanics using C# and animations utilizing IK.
Ratz V Aliens was a great opportunity to work under a tight deadline and I gained experience in priority management and additional experience in 3D modelling and concepting gameplay mechanics!
